History

HISTORY OF TRANSFORMATION APOSTOLIC CHURCH

Transformation Apostolic Church of God came into existence after many discussions, prayers, soul searching, and depending on Jesus Christ for the answer. Realizing that the church needed its own identity we began asking God for a name that would reflect the purpose of the church while following Jesus Christ as our example and the Holy Bible as our guide. Several perspective names were proposed, but the one that the Holy Spirit gave us favor was Transformation Apostolic Church of God, that is when the individual surrenders his/her life to Jesus Christ, their whole perspective about self and their lives will change or be transformed. Romans 12:2 reads, “be not transformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of their minds.”

After much searching, a building for worship services was found.  The Glenarden Municipal Center, located at 8600 Glenarden Boulevard, Glenarden, Maryland was chosen. This location can accommodate up to 300 people.  Installation services for the Pastor Verna Cabralis-Hunter and Deacon Robert Hunter were conducted on May 11, 2013, were Pastor Hunter preached her installation service entitled “Are we a vessel for Jesus Christ.”

Installation services were conducted by Elder Willie Williams, Pastor of Greater Morning Star 2; Lexington Park, Maryland. Transformation Apostolic Church of God is one of five churches under the guidance and direction of Elder Williams.

The church’s first service was conducted on May 12, 2013, and will continue to conduct services from 9:00-11:00 by the grace of God. The church is a wonderful Family oriented place to worship, where one can feel the Spirit of God moving. All are welcome to worship here and feel the love expressed in the church. Services are conducted in the Gold Room at the Municipal Center. Sunday school services are from 8:30-9:00.

Deacon Hewitt Burton became first Deacon installed under Pastor Verna Hunter on July 14, 2013.

Deaconess Evelyn Burns and Deaconess Thelma Curtis were consecrated on December 13, 2015.
